Where We Go

img_2347Life is such an amazing ride. Everyday brings somethings different. Even the people who are planners. The ones that try to have every day planned out. The ones who don’t like surprises or changes to their plans have to bend because the day changes as we go through it. Luckily for me I have never really been a planner. I have also been a dreamer and a goal setter but I would definitely not call myself a planner. I enjoy waking up and seeing where the day ends up. I like the mystery in it. I think that’s why this journey that I am on works so great for me. I can wake up in the morning have an idea of what needs to get done that day and the check of an app, text or call can total change it. It can send me back on the road enjoying this amazing country that I get to live in. March was definitely a month of random road trips and more memories. We got some of the girls together and celebrated Erica’s birthday at Sierra Nevada in Chico.

Along with working softball season was in full swing. The girls were practicing and learning the game. I was blessed to grow up playing this awesome sport. I played up until middle school and do to an injury I didn’t play in high school which looking back now I wish I would’ve continued. But for me that’s one of the things about this sport is even when you have the opportunity to coach it brings back all the love you forgot you had for it. Getting to watch the girls find their love for the sport is one of my favorite parts. I truly enjoy getting to coach the girls.

I am a fan of colder weather. For me there is nothing better than snuggling up in a sweatshirt with a beanie on. I love how the grass turns green in March and I love that I still get to wear my beanie and sweatshirts. March also brings my favorite holiday. Saint Patrick’s Day comes around and I get excited. St. Patrick’s day for me means the tradition of corned beef and cabbage, drinks and usually a night out with some of my friends. I usually always try to have a crazy outfit to wear and then I see where the night takes us. This years St.Patrick’s day was a fun one with a much-needed girls night with Callie, Shianne and Alicia. We had a blast and of course laughed.

The end of March brought a trip to Salt Lake City to pick up a horse trailer for a friend. And then the bigger trip back to the Midwest. I was super excited for the trip out because a lady I have known my whole life was going with me. I had a road trip partner that liked to travel and didn’t mind putting in hours on the road.

We left Red Bluff on a Saturday afternoon and we were planning on driving straight through to Indiana. Well God had a different plan. In the middle of Nevada we got caught in a white out snow storm so we decided to sleep for the night in Elko. The next day we made our journey across. We crossed Utah, cut down to highway 70 and drove into Colorado, Nebraska, across Iowa, Illinois and finally made it to Indiana. We made it to Indiana on Monday afternoon. Got to spend a little bit of time with Jenny and Martin that night. We got a good nights sleep and back on the road we went. This time we took a trailer up to Pennsylvania. Up until that trip I had never been to Pennsylvania so I was happy to check off another state off the list. We got the trailer dropped and went up to Williamsport where we got to tour the Little League World Series Museum. The museum was really neat to see and it was cool to learn the history of the Little League.

Back to Indiana we went this time we were trying to get a trailer to haul as close to Florida as possible. A trailer to Myrtle Beach came up and we booked it. I had never been to Myrtle Beach and it was only a few hours away from where Jens daughter lives so it was perfect. Taylor and her friend came up and met us in Myrtle Beach. We had a great time. Dinner at Senor Frogs and then we ended the night at the karaoke bar listening to some actually good karaoke.

Saturday I said good-bye to Jen and Taylor and headed back to Indiana. Easter was on that sunday and I wanted to spend it with Jenny, Martin and the family. Easter was great. Dinner was awesome and we enjoyed spending the day at the lake house. Monday I decided to take as another rest day. Just a reset from the driving. Jenny talked me into making a drop in Utah which is where she was headed. So off to Utah we went. On the way back from Utah we loaded my truck up onto her semi so we could enjoy the trip together. I always enjoy my time spent with Jenny. I’m definitely thankful to have her in my life. I was back in Indiana for a day when a load home popped up. So I said my good byes and headed home to California. After a few stops I made it to Sacramento in time to drop the trailer and even made it home for the softball game that night.

March and the beginning of April were awesome. Another road trip across the country checking off a few more states and spending time just enjoying the sights. Once I was home I spent four days at home. Those four days included softball, marrying a couple, and spending time with my family.

Before I knew it I was headed to Coeur d’Alene Idaho with some furniture for a friend. That trip allowed me to stop in Kennewick Washington and visit some friends that live there. I love getting to catch up with friends while I am on the road. I got the furniture dropped off and was able to grab lunch with a childhood friend. It was so great to see Sarah and catch up. I went back to Kennewick to spend one more night with my friends there. The next morning I was up early and headed to Caldwell Idaho to pick a horse up for another friend that lives close to home.

I was home once again and it was that time of year that brings the Red Bluff Round Up. It is one of the busiest times in Red Bluff. People travel from near and far for this rodeo. It is always a great time. Normally Saturday is the day were myself and a few friends let our hair down and just have a great time. But this year was different. Callie and I had to go to a bridal shower in Yreka saturday of Round Up and our friends that normally go were out-of-town. So saturday once I got home I was just the DD for a few other friends and home at a decent hour which was kind of strange. Sunday is the day my family goes. We always bet on the horse races and watch the rodeo together. It always great to see everyone and just enjoy the rodeo.

There is nothing better than time with friends and family and April brought a lot of time with both.

Sunrise

img_1202One of the best parts about being up early is the sunrise. Some sunrises take your breath away, some leave you in awe and some just make you thankful to be alive. The new year was upon me and what better way to enjoy the first morning spent in the valley then with three of your team GWG family in a duck blind enjoying the amazing sunrise that was before us.

img_1207Once again a few of us had the honor to go back down to Whitney’s family’s place and hunt ducks. The morning was perfect and the sunrise actually had us girls pause our talking for a moment. The birds were flying high that morning but once again memories and laughs happened. After the hunt was over Callie, Shianne and I were once again headed home.

img_1305Once I was home is was back to spending time with family and friends and working in the shop. But staying home doesn’t last to long. A few days after hunting with the girls I had the chance to once again duck hunt down in the Marysville area hunting with an awesome guy who is like my little brother. Nathan and I went down and hunted with his family member Butch. The two guys can work a duck call like no other. It was amazing getting to witness how they can make the ducks drop in. It was definitely another amazing day in the blind.  I have found that it definitely isn’t about how many ducks you harvest but it is the experience that makes the day.img_1369

The rest of January was busy. I had the opportunity to once again work the Girls With Guns booth at the International Sportsmen Expo in Sacramento with the awesome team.  Getting to work with team is the best. We have so much fun and the days fly by. The ISE offers everything you could think of for the sportsmen. Hunting, fishing, boats, kayaks, food, clothes and so much more. It’s a four-day show and by the end we are all worn out and tired but somehow always find the energy to have one night out. Saturday night usually ends up as that night.

After ISE was over it was onto the Red Bluff Bull & Gelding Sale working the GWG booth there. The Bull Sale is one of the biggest events in Red Bluff. It is always great to see the people you haven’t seen all year.

January in a whole was an incredible month and a great way to start out the year. Work, friends and memories.

February brought a month that not only included work but also more time with friends and family.

February brought a new little man into my life. Nella who is like a sister to me welcomed into the world Mr. Desmond. And this auntie couldn’t wait to get to Sacramento to see them. He was absolutely perfect in every way. It worked out perfect getting to visit them because I had to take a trailer to Boise and it needed to be picked up not to far from where they were.

img_1430The road trip from Tracy CA to Boise ID was another success. My friend Patience was able to go with me and it is always nice to have someone road trip with you. We made it to Boise saturday evening dropped the trailer and enjoyed some karaoke at one of the local bars. I have to say that kareoke is one of my favorite things to watch because it makes for great people watching. Sunday we loaded up and headed back to Red Bluff.

Once we got back to Red Bluff I slept for a night and took the trailer I brought home to the LA area. Now the exciting part about this was that I would get to see my cousin Chandra and her family. Once the trailer was dropped I went over to Chandra’s place and spent time with them. I also was able to take that next day off of work so we took the kids to Disneyland. Which the inner child in me was of soooo excited for. I hadn’t been to Disneyland since I was in high school so I think I actually was more excited than them. We met up with my good friend from home Kenny who actually works at Disneyland. We were able to spend some time with him in the park.

The first character we ran into was the one and only Cruella Deville which the kids wanted nothing to do with so of course Chandra and I jumped in with her to get a sassy photo. The list of characters we were able to see was awesome. Yes I know im a 27-year-old woman who truly enjoys getting to see and take photos with them. I think it just helps me stay young. Goofy gave the best hug, Mickey was awesome, Piglet and Eeyore were cute, and the others were just as awesome as the rest.

The day at Disneyland was an absolute blast! I enjoyed all the amazing treats that they recommend to try. The pretzel, churros, beignets, and the best of all the Dole pineapple soft serve.  We closed down the park that night after enjoying the light show in California Adventures. I was so grateful for the time spent with my cousin and little cousins. The memories we made will be with us for a lifetime and for that I am grateful.

February ended up with spending more time enjoying the road, watching my niece Makenna play volleyball and spending even more time with friends and family. It also brought the beginning of the 2018 softball season. This year I would be helping to coach a minor girls team which I was excited about.

New Rules

The end of the 2017 was here and being the gypsy that I am I wanted to bring in the New Years somewhere other then my small town. So when a trailer needed to go to Portland I knew that on my way home I would head to the coast. Bringing in 2018 I wanted to spend the last few days with not only a few days enjoying the ocean but also spending those days with my best friend Megan.

Megan and I have been friends since freshman year of high school. She has been there through struggles, hardships, happiness, adventures, and is my taller half. I couldn’t imagine a better place to bring in the new years then with her.

The few days on the coast were awesome. We of course enjoyed the beach. There is nothing more relaxing to me then listening to the waves crash. If im on the coast you can guarentee that I will at some point be found walking on the beach taking in the smells and sounds. I love the beach and having my best friend there with me is the best. We always catch up on our walks. We talk about life, goals, and plans. We took a road trip up to Trinidad, enjoyed the farmers market in Arcata and even checked out the jetty near Eureka.

I also was informed that Fortuna had an ice skating ring which made me super excited. I had always wanted to try to ice skate. So we loaded up met up with Maggi and my friend Cody and I gave it a go. Little did I know that ice skating is super hard. I defintely looked like bambi on ice. But we got a lot of laughs and a few bruises out of the fun.

News Years Eve we picked up Maggi from her station and drove up the coast to the Trees of Mystery and ended up going all the way up to Cresent City. We enjoyed seeing the giant trees and we just barely missed the last tour of the aquariam in Cresent City. It was definitely a great way to spend the last day of 2017.

Megan and I brought in the New Year at the local casino where her boyfriend works. If you know me you know that I love to play the slot machines and always have. So a few hours of playing I didn’t win anything but definitely had a blast. The people watching was fantastic.

I defintely left 2017 with a couple of my favorite people and rang in the new year with them as well. It’s always difficult to say I’ll see you later to your best friend but there we found ourselves saying see you later. Megan is finishing up her schooling over on the coast I couldn’t be more proud of all she is accomplishing.

2018 was brought in with excitement and happiness. I looked forward to 2018 and couldn’t wait to see where this year took me. The trip back over to the valley would be my first trip of what looked like a year of opportunities and travels.
